Emma at The Plaza

Today Emma and I visited mom for lunch, a practice we haven't kept up since mom changed job's at SkyWest. Everyone kept asking "Why haven't you guy's been by for so long?" and I wanted to say "Because you guy's work my wife to the bone." But I refrained as most of the staff there is overworked and would probably agree with me. So since mom for the first time in months wasn't teaching a class and wasn't out of town we visited for lunch. We brought Crown Burgers to mom's office, then we sat on the patio at The Plaza and ate lunch. Emma was having a good time so we went for a walk through the gardens on the way back to the office. Emma wanted desperately to jump in the fountains, but seemed to settle for a walk with mom. We even bumped into an old friend of ours on the way back to the office. What a great way to spend lunch!

Caught in the act - Motor Cargo Company Picnic

Emma was caught on film at the Motor Cargo company picnic a little more than a week ago. She was basking in the cool mist of a sprinkler after tackling the water slide.

Many other photos from the company picnic (as provided by Andie Ford Photography) are available on the DougandHannah Photo Album Blog.

Talking to dogs

We ventrured into a PetSmart adoption center over the weekend just to size up the possiblities of getting a dog. Emma became enamored with this shepherd mix. Emma was pretty cute talking to the dogs (woo woo woooo!) and hugging ther puppy Jay. In fact we heard more than one person give an "awwww" at cute little Emma.

Blast from the past 4:While we were in Long Beach with Grandma and Grandpa, Hanna was hard at work exchanging Emma's crib for her new toddler bed. Mom worked extra hard to make it extra special for her little girl.

Blast from the past 3:This was a very fun photo! We picked mom up at the airport and mom took a photo of her baby, then show it to her on the phone. This was a very fun game for Emma. This is the last photo of game. It was taken on June 8 but coats were being worn becasue of the incessant rain and wind.

A Blast From The Past: We dumped the photos that Hannah has been saving on her phone and thought we'd do some sharing. In this photo (3/10/05 6:26p) Emma enjoy's and despises the refreshing lemon mom gave her at Denny's in Woods Cross, Utah. At this same meal, mom introduced Emma to "Dipping" her chicken and french fries in ketchup or ranch sauce. Life hasn't been the same since.

Turning 30 and The Title of Liberty

We went to a birthday party a couple weeks back for a family friend. Craig was turning 30 and his wife threw him a big party so we drove down for the big shindig. The party was held at an old Latter-Day Saint chapel in Salt Lake City. The building had a lot of character, they don't build them with that much character any more. One of the neatest features of this church (along with the stained glass windows) was this painting depicting Moroni raising a freshly inscribed standard of liberty over the city of Zarahemla. (See The Book of Mormon, Alma 46:12-13)

Emma came along for the setup of our latest dance. She seemed to be having a good time and didn't even bother mom and dad too much. Of course once dad hauled some toys from the nursery into the cultural hall it was play day on the dance floor.

Mom hooked up a microphone and let Emma go to town. She was a little reluctant until mom loaded up The Carpenters cover of The Rainbow Connection, then Emma started singing up a storm. She even tried helping out and got into some assembly. It was real fun for me to have her along. I was lucky to have the extra time to setup so that Emma could come along. She's a fun kid and working with her around reminded me of the ol' days when I would follow my Grandpa to his work at a Stake Center in our city. Nostalgia abounds.

Aunt Jen came to lunch with us today and Emma seemed to be loving the company. Even though Emma was having a good time she was a little short on affection until we were ready to part ways after out meal, then she got cuddly with her favorite auntie.

Eye on Emma: Issue 6
Not Too Old

Well Emma keeps growing up. She's now officially a nursery attendee at church, she navigates bumps in the roads like and old pro and has hair long enough for mom to comb in all sorts of directions.

For as much advancement she makes there seems to be a bit of baby that stays with her. Take, for example, this photo taken with my phone. Emma's six month old cousin was visiting and Emma couldn't resist giving his infant car seat a test ride. She want's to be like little Tanner every now and then, especially when mom is holding him!
