Las Vegas: The Fertile Valley

After years of ignorance I went searching the web for a translation of "Las Vegas." Thinking it probably translated as "The Sinful Place" or "Evil Lair" or something like that I was suprised to learn that in english, "Las Vegas" means "The Fertile Valley." Fascinating isn't it?
